Are Your Trainers Certified?

Yes, I (Steve) have been certified by one of the most accomplished professional dog trainers in York and Adams Counties, Bob Fink. What will my dog learn in training at Shady Canine Academy?
Your training with SCA will go as far as you are willing to work. Here at SCA we train the handler along with your canine, so you learn with your canine. We can go from a simple learning to walk on a leash to a full fledged service companion.
My dog doesn’t like other dogs. Can they still join Shady Canine Academy?

Yes, just like people, your dog does not have to like other dogs. It is how your canine reacts when they notice or interact with other dogs that's the answer.

What vaccinations does my dog need?
SCA requires that your canine be up to date on all its vaccinations and we ask that it also receive its distemper vaccine since socialization is key to training some behaviors. We also require proof of a current rabies vaccine. At SCA we value the safety of our staff as much as we value the safety of your canine.
Can you work on a specific issue with my dog?

Yes, we can work on specific problems or issues.

How long does it take for me to have a well trained dog?

This question depends on you. Your canine's behavior hinges on how often you re-enforce the task and or behaviors we teach. Think of it like learning another language, if I sit and teach you a language you may walk away learning a word or two; and after a few hours you will forget them. If I teach you a few words and you go home and practice those words a couple times a day until I see you the following week you will have remembered them. Training your dog is not unlike learning your dog's language. Practice makes for better communication.
